New York Routes Recommends: With New York's plan to dissolve NY 17 west of Harriman once the entire expressway section is brought up to Interstate standards in favor of Interstate 86, we recommend realigning the northern end of non-espressway NY 17 along the current NY 17M. The section of NY 17 north of NY 17M would be reassigned as a southern extension of NY 32.

The NY 17 junction list is split into two sections.

PA Border to Binghamton (Southern Tier Expressway)
Southern Finger Lakes including Jamestown, Olean, Hornell, Bath, Corning, Elmira, and Binghamton's western suburbs.

Binghamton to NJ Border (Quickway)
Catskill Mountains including Deposit, Hancock, Liberty, Monticello, Middletown, and the lower Hudson Valley.
